SCMEC (South Carolina Medical Endoscopy Center) is dedicated to providing excellent screening and early detection of one of the only preventative forms of cancer, Colon Cancer. This form of treatment could save more than 25,000 lives per year!
With this in mind, Dr. Stephen Lloyd, President and CEO of SCMEC was constantly seeking a bigger and better public awareness campaign for colon cancer prevention.
While public awareness was his main concern, it was other physicians that he really wanted to connect with. The SCMEC trains physicians to perform colonoscopies, so that they can then perform the procedure in their own practices.
Dr. Lloyd contacted our firm to help with a public awareness campaign through the avenue of other physicians. While physicians are the primary target market, it was our goal to spread the awareness straight to the general public as well.
The process was to design a state of the art website. We wanted to design a website that would resonate with the general public and physicians alike.
The use of video is a consistent marketing vehicle which allows for an easy connection with the different target markets. Our use of physicians in these videos enables an easy connection with other physicians while engaging the general public.
While the website was the initial step followed by the production of the online videos, it was time to create a full media kit and community health fair booth that all conveyed a consistent message. We subsequently created TV commercials and radio commercials which were also consistent with the message - "Save Your Colon". Our team then designed a full awareness kit made specifically for physicians and mailed these to all physicians meeting a certain criteria.
SCMEC continues with this strategic plan today and continues to see great results from both industry physicians and the general public’s awareness.
FYI – Our Senior Partner even did some personal research and had a colonoscopy by Dr. Lloyd! Talking about really wanting to get to know our client’s processes -- (thankfully no polyps were found!).
