How to Get Youtube Views: Video Marketing Tips

Tom Baire Thursday, February 09, 2012

YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine used after Google, standing out is much more difficult now than it used to be.  Thousands of new videos are uploaded to YouTube every day.  As YouTubers figure out how to get their viewers to come back they are increasing their ability to market their business.  So how do you get those viewers to like your videos and subscribe to your page?  Here are some quick tips on optimizing your videos to have a better chance to be noticed on YouTube.

1)  Make exciting videos

Producing exciting videos are import because it is so easy to click on the next video if you don’t grab their attention and hold that attention.  Exciting doesn’t have to be explosions and fast cars, it can be nice looking backgrounds, multiple angles, humor, props, etc.  Enjoy making your videos - if you or your subject you are shooting is not enjoying the process then  neither will your viewers.

2)  Upload a high quality version

Produce your videos in the best quality available by using microphones for the best sound and proper lighting.  When your video is produced, upload a high quality version.  Think about standard definition VS high definition, people prefer watching better quality.  As a side note, if you upload high def, viewers can choose to watch in a lower quality if they have a slower connection.

3)  Keep your viewer engaged

Use psychological techniques when producing your videos to keep your viewers engaged like changing something significant in your video every 15-30 seconds. You can do this by changing the angle of your shot, showing a tight shot of what you are talking about,  using visual effects like some graphics, or by throwing an annotation on the screen to get them to do something.  Keep them interested.  Humor is one of the biggest tools you can use in producing a video.

4)  Short and Sweet

Make your videos short and to the point.  The faster you get to the point of your message the more likely people will come back to see what else you may have to offer.  For example if you are talking about why a particular car is best, segment the total content into multiple 5 minute videos.  One video may consist of talking about the power of the engine, then the next video will be about how it handles, and the next is about how the stereo in booming, etc.  People will tune into what they are interested in most.

5) Social Network

Talk to your friends about it.  Take advantage of the many social media platforms out there that allow content to spread like wildfire.  Using facebook and twitter is a good way to have people share, retweet, like, or post your content to their individual networks.

These are some techniques to take into consideration when planning to be a part of the You Tube Community.  This process can be very time consuming and monotonous without the proper knowledge to put these techniques to work.
